Everything you need to know before booking
While Dhikala is the largest zone with vast grasslands (Chaurs), Bijrani is preferred for its mix of dense Sal forests and meadows. Both offer high tiger sighting probabilities (~90%), but Bijrani is more accessible for day visitors using Jeep safaris, whereas Dhikala day visits are primarily restricted to Canter safaris.
No. To protect the wildlife and minimize ecological disturbance, all safaris operate strictly during daylight hours. Morning shifts typically start at 6:00 AM and evening shifts end by 6:30 PM (varying slightly by season).
All safari vehicles must maintain a safe distance (minimum 30m) from elephant herds. Naturalist guides are trained in animal behavior and follow prescribed forest tracks. In case of an encounter, engines are often turned off to allow the herd to pass peacefully.
The Forest Department occasionally permits the use of specific bird hides for a fee (approx. ₹2,000/day). However, mobile hides or stepping out of vehicles to set up photography equipment is strictly prohibited to prevent habitat fragmentation and ensure visitor safety.
No. There is no Wi-Fi or television at the Bijrani Forest Rest House to maintain its raw, wilderness appeal. Mobile network connectivity is also extremely limited or non-existent once you enter the core forest area; the last reliable signal is usually at the Amdanda Gate.
