Phulara Ridge Trek

Govind Pashu Vihar National Park,Uttarkashi

The Phulara Ridge Trek is widely regarded as India's finest ridge walk. With this rare Himalayan experience, you don't just reach a summit and descend, but walk for hours along an elevated spine with breathtaking 360-degree panoramas stretching endlessly in every direction. Located within the Govind Pashu Vihar National Park in Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand, the trek commences from Sankri village — the same base camp shared with the legendary Kedarkantha and Har Ki Dun treks. The Phulara Ridge, however, remains far less crowded, offering a pristine and intimate Himalayan experience. Described as resembling a miniature Great Wall of China, the ridge twists and turns through meadows and valleys at an altitude of approximately 3,700 metres. Along the way, trekkers pass through dense forests of oak, rhododendron, and deodar; open alpine bugiyals (meadows) carpeted with wildflowers; and ancient Garhwali villages steeped in local tradition.

Weather Awareness
Mountain weather changes rapidly. Always carry warm layers and waterproof gear, and avoid trekking on exposed ridge sections during heavy rain, snowfall, lightning, or poor visibility.
3
Medical Fitness
Trekkers with heart disease, respiratory conditions, severe anaemia, or other medical concerns should obtain medical clearance before the trek. Pregnant women are advised not to undertake high-altitude trekking.
4
Trail & Wildlife Safety
Stay on marked trails, avoid shortcuts, and maintain a safe distance from wildlife inside Govind Pashu Vihar National Park. Follow Leave No Trace principles and never feed wild animals.
5
Hydration & Group Safety
Drink 3–4 litres of water daily, remain with your trekking group at all times, and immediately inform your guide if you feel unwell or need assistance.
